What is a medical pedicure (medi-pedi)?

The Hessle foot health clinic treatment room where medical pedicures are carried out

A medical pedicure — or medi-pedi — combines the pampering of a pedicure with proper foot health care. Unlike a salon pedicure, which is mainly cosmetic, a medical pedicure is carried out by a qualified Foot Health Practitioner using sterile, professional instruments.

What is involved

There is no shared footbath and no cutting corners on hygiene. The focus is on the condition of your skin and nails — reducing hard skin and callus, tidying and thinning nails, caring for cuticles and cracked heels — and spotting any small problems early. Your treatment is finished with gel polish in a colour of your choice.

Who it is for

It is ideal if you are on your feet all day, preparing for a holiday or occasion, or simply want your feet cared for properly and hygienically. It is also a lovely, health-conscious alternative to a salon pedicure.
