Corns and hard skin: why they form and how treatment helps

Before and after callus and hard skin reduction on the foot — East Yorkshire Foot Health

Corns and callus (hard skin) are among the most common foot problems I treat across Hull, Hessle and East Yorkshire — and the good news is they respond really well to professional care.

Hard skin builds up where your feet take extra pressure or friction — often the ball of the foot, the heel, or the sides of the toes. Over time it can thicken and, where the pressure is focused into a small point, form a corn. Corns can be surprisingly painful, a little like walking with a small stone underfoot.

During an appointment I carefully reduce and remove the hard skin and corns using sterile instruments. Most people feel relief straight away, and walking becomes comfortable again. I'll also look at what's causing the pressure — footwear, foot shape or the way you walk — and suggest simple ways to slow it coming back.

You can see real before and after results in the gallery. Hard skin and corn removal is included in every foot health appointment, with no extra charge per treatment. Book a check-up at the Hessle clinic or as a home visit.
